3 of us from Pg Watch went to the meeting at Sg Ara at 10.00am, to meet up with residents who are keen on meeting us to discuss about addressing the complaints of thug and unreasonable cleaning charges. We met with some residents and brief them about what to look out for in setting up a Residents Association-because there are many ways where the RA can be hijacked -even by the developer ! After that we took a tour to Desaria to say halo to the `famous' thugs-and met 2 youngish thugs (introduced by the guards at the guard house as `security for the renovation contractor') who didn't quite hide their thugish look.

According to 2 owners -one already staying there and another yet to move in, Sean's unit had been broken into and even `smashed' in the last few days. If you remember: Sean was the residents who wrote here and complained about the Rm450.00 `cleaning'/protection fees in this web site. But he kept quiet on the damage he suffered -creating an intimidating atmosphere to the rest of the residents. A resident even SMS to me to say he is scared of coming to the meeting tomorrow lest he get `targetted' by the thugs ! Well if everyone get scarred and stay at home helplessly and pay the thugs as they want this is precisely the `game plan' of those interested party !

Despite a meeting planned on May 19th there was no response/reports whatsoever from the attendants -thus the need for this meeting, also as a response to request from residents/readers of Penang Watch:

So the meeting details*:

Date : June 2nd (Saturday)

Time : 10.00am

Venue : Mamak Store near Bloc B, Desaria

* Open to other suggestions if more convenient to more people. 

Objective : to facilitate residents to form a residents association to handle common issues like the unwarranted Rm450.00 waste disposal fee (even to get back paid fees). Residents need min 15 persons to legally apply for registration. Please call all your neighbours there to turn up.
