Accountability in housing
LAST week, Subang Jaya assemblyman Hannah Yeoh and Kelana Jaya member of parliament Loh Gwo Burne visited Mutiara Perdana in Bandar Sunway to see the problems faced by apartment owners. Reports of their visit brought up an intriguing question: how and why did the Subang Jaya Muni-cipal Council (MPSJ) issue certificates of fitness (CF) for occupation without water and electricity supply in place?
Guan Eng: Developer failed to prevent damage in houses

GEORGE TOWN (May 30, 2008): Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng has criticised the Penang Times Square developer for failure to take initial steps to prevent damages to houses located near the development along Kuantan Road.
Lim, who visited the site after chairing the weekly exco meeting at noon today, said the state government considered the complaints of cracks in houses along that road as a serious matter.
"The developer, Ivory Properties, has explained the steps they are taking now but we are not satisfied with the explanation," he said in a press conference after inspecting the cracks on one of the affected houses.
Isn't it a bad policy which allows housing developers to get away scotch free after they collect money from house buyers but fail to deliver the houses? Where is the `build then sell' policy which will improve house deliveries? By avoiding to implement pro-buyers policy the BN govt shows itself to be better friend of crooked developers than honest house buyers!

BUTTERWORTH: Residents of Taman Sutera Prima in Seberang Jaya want the construction of an apartment near their houses to stop until safety measures are taken by the developer.
The residents of houses in Lorong Sutera 5, 6 and 7 also claimed that complaints to the Seberang Prai Municipal Council (SPMC) had fallen on deaf ears.
