When a car parked on a motorcycle park, summon will be served. However, when a motorcycle parked on a car park, assured no summon would be served. Wondering what is the rationale behind this. Notice that motorcyclists in Penang are fond of parking their motorcycles on parking areas MEND STRICTLY for cars instead of the designated motorcycle car parks.
Just to highlight one very recent case....I was in Balik Pulau Town yesterday evening. Tried hard to find a parking space in the town and found one. However, the parking space has been parked by a motorcycle eventhough the motorcycle parking areas are at the opposite side of the road (less than 15 feet away). Later, I saw the motorcycle owner rode on the motorcycle and was about to leave. I requested him to take note that this is a car park mend for car and the motorcycle park is at the opposite of the road and pointed at the motorcycle park. I requested him to be considerate and please park his motorcycle at the correct place going forward. To my horror, I was solded by the motorcycle owner for being busybody. What busybody? I am part of the society. I want to live in a society that is IN ORDER. I shook my head and left the place. For your information, the huge police station headquarter for Barat Daya district of Penang is located in Balik Pulau, even with this, I hardly see any policemen patrolling on the street. There are so many illegal motorcycle parkings in Balik Pulau Town, but no action has been taken against them.
My friends and I have encountered numerous such instances throughout Penang.
