3 days to celebrate George Town's WHC status: when would government start work?

If a tourist go around George Town he/she will notice a lot of old George Town in need of renovations. What are the plans and strategies to renovate these buildings in line with the newly conferred WHC status? Should not the occasion be used to announced some concrete and specific plans to improve the heritage conservation in George Town -lest UNECO withdraw the WHC status after 3 years?

But the state government seems to say this: Forget about these complications: let's celebrate first!!!!

PENANG, July 22 (Bernama) -- Members of the public are invited to join in the three-day celebrations beginning Friday in conjunction with the selection of Georgetown as a Unesco world heritage site.

Penang Municipal Council (MPPP) President Datuk Zainal Rahim Seman said various cultural performances and other activities had been planned to be staged at various locations.

"Members of the public, especially Penangites, are welcomed to participate together in celebrating the selection of Georgetown as a Unesco world heritage.

"Interesting activities have been planned and members of the public can surf the MPPP website mppp@gov.my to find out the schedule for the three-day celebrations," he said at a media conference here Tuesday.

I do agree that action is

I do agree that action is more important that posture and to celebrate such event is to show to the public that they have done something wonderful for the peoples! It's some kind of propaganda to induce more mileage for the political party and we call this a political posturing! As a responsible Government, I will advise LGE lead Government to conduct such celebration with low profile not forgetting that the State is in economic doldrums and it's the responsibility of the Government to cut costs and conserve resources for some other critical good deeds, benefiting the needy rakyat!

Danny Low should be more proactive to inspire and work out a plan to enhance and maintain the 'heritage buildings' which some have been doomed to war-torn-building like, some have been commercialized and turned into houses of the swallows as the factories for bird nests! All these are eyesores and pet aversions to the tourists at large. I don't think UNESCO will be expecting to see all these as the credentials to maintain the WHC status for the next 3 years!

In the past when DAP was in the opposition, they had been rumbling with critics to suggest openness and learning from other neighboring countries on how they could do good jobs to promote tourisms and this is time Danny should prove that he will do a much better job since opportunity had been given! They are now the boss of the State and don't tell me the best they can do is to celebrate some achievements that had been spearheaded by the previous administration?! In fact, I was disappointed with his recent retort to his rival Ng Fook On on the issue of Perak Road wet market rebuild scheme by refuting that it's the project initiated by the former YB, and he sees no necessity of building another new market since the needs of the people did not arise yet! This has proven that Danny did not go down to the field and perhaps, he is still enjoying his honeymoon in the nice exco-office without realizing the grievances and needs of rakyat in his constituency!

Prove that you are not NATO to qualify our supports to DAP!.............We are watching how you walk your promises!
