Despite a meeting planned on May 19th there was no response/reports whatsoever from the attendants -thus the need for this meeting, also as a response to request from residents/readers of Penang Watch:

Objective : to facilitate residents to form a residents association to handle common issues like the unwarranted Rm450.00 waste disposal fee (even to get back paid fees). Residents need min 15 persons to legally apply for registration. Please call all your neighbours there to turn up.

Penangwatch was launched this month last year -and it is time to look back on our achievement/ mischief ! There will be a reception on June 3rd*(Sunday) (World Environment Day) 6.00pm, at D' Space (60 Weld Quay)to do that -so all concerned parties are welcome ! Programs:

1.A presentation on the work done by Penangwatch -and a review of its operation.

2.A film screening (`An Inconveninet Truth') at 8.00pm.

3. A party with a few bands playing at the end of the screening-around 10.00pm.

World Environment Day is coming -so this special free screening by Penang Film Club :

Intro : An Oscar Best Documentary award winner about climate change-must watch for all who are concerned about one of the greatest environmental threats to humans. Presenter in the doco: Al-Gore -US' ex-Vice President & Presidential candidate. There will be a discussion after the screening.

The world out of balance!Penang Film Club will be screening the renown classic Koyanisqatsi film according to the following details :

Venue : D' Space (60 Weld Quay, 4th floor of Wisma Oh)

Intro to the film : the film (1980's make) featured an extended music video which contrast nature and human made citiscapes to produce a dialogue-less condemnation of human civilisation. Excellent music by Philip Glass add to the poignancy of the feature-length piece. Many people had been so charmed that they watch it repeatedly. It is by-itself a prove of the power of imageries over human(made)-languages. The title is a Hopi Indian word meaning `Life Out of Balance'.

Hey film lovers,

Penang Film Club will be holding the following screening at details below:

Titles : Chronos(1985 40min) & Baraka (1990 90min)

Date : June 30th (Saturday)

Time : 8.00pm -sharp.

Venue : D' Space (60 Weld Quay, 4th floor of Wisma Oh)

Intro: both films follow in the style of dialogue-less Koyaanisqatsi (1980 90min) which we screened last weekend.

Notice: the screening time is on Saturday instead of the Sunday before.

There will be discussion of the films after the screenings-and we look forward to attendants treating this as a worthy weekend outing by bringing their favourite cinema tit-bits to share around.
